Seeding Announced for 65th Annual WCCA Wrestling Tournament

Top seeds for the 65th annual Westmoreland County Coaches Association Wrestling Tournament were announced during a seeding meeting held Thursday, January 3rd at Norwin High School. The two-day tournament, hosted for the second year in a row at Norwin, opens with first round bouts Friday evening January 4, before concluding with a full day of action on Saturday, January 5th. 

Following welcoming remarks by WCCA President Larry Sellitto, coaches and association officials got down to the business of seeding wrestlers in the 14 weight classes that will crown a county champion Saturday evening. As individual weight class seedings were decided, they were announced and discussed during a live video broadcast by our digital partners at Westmoreland Sport Network. We'll list the top 4 in each weight class below, but you'll want to watch WSN's Kris Smith, George Carter, and Jeff Shaw take you deeper into every bracket with analysis and comments on their watch back link - https://www.meridix.com/event/145101. The WSN team also interviewed defending team champion coach Chris Heater of Kiski Area and host Vince DeAugustine, head coach of Norwin. 

Wrestling begins at 5 PM on Friday with first and second round action scheduled. Saturday bouts begin at 11 AM with semifinals and 3rd and 4th consolation rounds. A break will follow, during which the gym will be closed, before doors open again at 3 PM for the evening events. The consolation finals will take place at 4 PM, scholarship awards and Parade of Champions begins at 5:30, and championship bouts start at 6 PM. Norwin High School is located at 251 McMahon Drive in North Huntingdon.
