Valley Girls and Norwin Boys Claim WCCA Wrestling Championships

Valley High School repeated as the girls team champions, and Norwin claimed the boys team title, when the 72nd edition of the Westmoreland County Coaches Association Wrestling Championships were contested on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Greensburg Salem High School in Greensburg.

Valley remains the only team to ever win the WCCA girls title, as the girls championship is only in its second year. Franklin Regional's girls took home this year's runner-up trophy in their first appearance at the event.

Norwin's boys knocked off 2025 champion Franklin Regional to end a long WCCA title drought for the Knights. Franklin Regional finished in second place.

Individually, Burrell’s Carmen Bires and Greensburg Salem’s Sadie Sarver became the first two-time champions in the girls tournament. In the boys tournament, Burrell's Cam Baker and Derry Area's Mason Horwat claimed their third WCCA gold medals. Horwat, a junior, has the opportunity to become only the 15th four-time champion in the 2027 tournament. Norwin junior Landon Sidun earned his 100th career win with his gold medal performance in the 121-pound finals.

Girls teams participating were from Burrell, Derry Area, Franklin Regional, Greater Latrobe, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield Area, Kiski School, Mt. Pleasant, and Valley.

Boys teams represented were from Belle Vernon, Burrell, Derry Area, Franklin Regional, Greater Latrobe, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield Area, Kiski Area, Kiski School, Ligonier Valley, Mt. Pleasant, Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Southmoreland, Valley, and Yough.
