Penn-Trafford Girls Get 62-54 Non-Conference Win at Hempfield 

Penn-Trafford made the short drive over to Hempfield's Spartan Fieldhouse worthwhile as they came home with a 62-54 non-conference win in a girls basketball game against Hempfield on Tuesday, January 28. The game was the first of a boys and girls doubleheader, with the boys teams squaring off in a conference game after the girls played.

The game was close throughout. Penn-Trafford held a 10-9 advantage after one quarter of play, which they stretched to a 25-22 lead at halftime. 

The Lady Warriors outscored Hempfield 17-16 in the third, for a 42-38 lead going to the final quarter. Hempfield made Penn-Trafford win the game from the free throw line, which they did with an 11-for-14 performance to clinch the 62-54 victory. Emma Hoffner had a productive fourth quarter for the Spartans, with her 8 points making up half of Hempfield's 16. 

Bella Long led the Warriors with 19 points, with Allie Prady adding 16 and Maura Suman 14. Hempfield's Sarah Liberatore was the game's high scorer with 21 points. Kelsi Terzolino and Brooke McCoy each had 10 for the Lady Spartans.

At the conclusion of the game, Sarah Liberatore was recognized by Hempfield athletic director Greg Meisner and head girls basketball coach Tom Brush for recently joining the 1000 career points club.

Hempfield (7-11, 4-7) will play their fourth game in five days on 1/30 when they travel to Peters Township for a conference game. Penn-Trafford (11-6, 6-5) will play a conference game at Woodland Hills on the same day.
