Norwin Girls Take Down Penn-Trafford 29-14

Blame it on this week's winter weather if you wish, but the Norwin and Penn-Trafford girls had their own brand of cold shooting happening on the hardwood at Norwin High School. In a game that saw both teams struggle to find the hoop early on, Norwin eventually got their game going and pulled away from Penn-Trafford to win 29-14 in a Class 6A Section 1 matchup on Tuesday, January 18 in North Huntingdon. 

Neither team had much success finding the hoop in the first quarter, scoring a pair of field goals each, and the quarter ended with the game tied 4-4.

Norwin got it going in the second, scoring 9 points while holding the Lady Warriors to a single field goal that came with under a minute left in the half. The first half ended with the Lady Knights leading 13-6.

Penn-Trafford's scoring woes continued in the third quarter as they were held to a single field goal with under 2 minutes remaining in the quarter. The Knights put up 7 of their own to increase their lead to 20-8 with one quarter to play.

It was still anyone's game to win as the final frame began. But Norwin never let the Warriors get close. The Knights outscored the Warriors 9-6 over the final 8 minutes to seal the 29-14 victory over their perennial rivals.

Norwin's Chloe Lukondi and Lauren Palangio shared high scorer honors with 8 point each. Olivia Pepple was high scorer for Penn-Trafford with 6 points.

Both teams are back in action with section games on 1/20. Norwin (9-4, 6-1) travels to Shaler while Penn-Trafford (6-6, 4-3) will host Seneca Valley.
