Boys Soccer - Plum vs Franklin Regional
Franklin Regional Hands Plum First Loss in 1-0 BattleFranklin Regional avenged an earlier 2-0 home loss to Plum with a little payback on their opponents turf, beating the Mustangs 1-0 in a Class 3A Section 4 boys soccer battle on Tuesday, September 27, at Plum High School. The loss snapped a 26-game regular season winning streak for Plum. The game was scoreless for almost the entire first half before Franklin Regional's Danny Christafano's boot with 40 seconds left until intermission got past a diving Owen Zalewski to record the game's lone goal. A physical contest for the entire 80 minutes saw its share of fouls called on both teams. Franklin Regional's defense held off a strong second half by the Mustangs while goalkeeper Aryan Selokar made several stellar saves for the Panthers. The two teams, who split the season series for the third year in a row, now sit tied atop the section standings. Next up for Plum (10-1-1, 8-1-0) is a road trip to Obama Academy on 9/29, while Franklin Regional (8-3-0, 8-1-0) will host Penn-Trafford.
