PIAA Girls Soccer Playoff - Norwin vs North Allegheny

Norwin Goalkeeper Sam Wexell Gets School Record 51st Shutout in 4-0 Win over North Allegheny 

O'Hara Township, Pa. - Following a sub-freezing Noon starting time and a scoreless first half, Norwin girls soccer warmed up along with the second half temperature to post a 4-0 victory over North Allegheny in a PIAA Class 4A playoff game at Fox Chapel High School. The win was a fitting birthday gift for Lady Knights' goalkeeper Sam Wexell who posted her school record 51st career shutout in net. Both teams saw first half scoring chances go for naught as they headed to the midway break at 0-0. Norwin finally broke the ice in the 45th minute with a goal by Katy Ericson that dropped in between the crossbar and North Allegheny goalkeeper Olivia Ruppersberger. Emily Harrigan added a pair of goals for the Lady Knights at the 58th and 62nd minute. Norwin added a goal from Alyssa Victor in the 79th minute to close out the scoring and send Norwin to a semifinal matchup with Conestoga Valley on Tuesday.
