Ligonier Valley Advances to District 6 Title Game with 39-14 Win Over Cambria Heights

Ligonier, Pa. - A game time temperature of 22 degrees wasn't enough to slow down Ligonier Valley as they marched to a 39-14 win over Cambria Heights. A good crowd was on hand to watch the Rams play their last home game of the season at Weller Field, as their win sends them to the District 6 championship game next Saturday at Altoona's Mansion Park Stadium. 

Jackson Daugherty had a big night for the Rams, putting points up as a runner, as a receiver, and as a passer. Shortly after grabbing a 51-yard pass reception to the 2-yard line, Daugherty scored for Ligonier Valley on a 5-yard pass reception from John Caldwell. A failed two-point conversion gave the Rams a 6-0 lead at the midpoint of the first quarter. Daugherty and Caldwell hooked up again for a 56-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. Another failed conversion made the score 12-0. Three minutes later, Daugherty tossed a 57-yard touchdown to Aaron Tutino to make the score 19-0 after the conversion. Cody Stockley scored from 1-yard out for Cambria Heights to make it 19-7, but Daugherty grabbed another Caldwell pass from 26 yards on the final play of the half and the Rams took a 26-7 lead into the locker room. Cambria Heights had the ball to start the second half, but Sullivan Schueltz quickly returned an interception 40 yards to give the Rams a 32-7 lead. Neither team scored for the remainder of the third quarter, but Jackson Daugherty found the endzone again early in the fourth quarter on a keeper from 1-yard out. Cambria Heights added a 2-yard touchdown run from Tyler Trybus with three minutes left in the game to make the final 39-14. 

Ligonier Valley improves their record to 12-0 and waits to find out their opponent in the District 6 title game. Cambria Heights ends their season with an 8-4 record.
