Burrell Scores on PK in Overtime, Beats Derry Boys Soccer 3-2  

Burrell Boys Soccer took a two-goal lead into halftime, gave both scores back in the second half, then scored on a penalty kick late in the second overtime period to beat Derry 3-2 at Burrell. 

The Bucs opened the scoring only 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the game when midfielder Nicholas Kariotis fed forward Jake Guerrini, who got his shot past Derry goalkeeper Robert Boyer for the early 1-0 advantage. Burrell went up 2-0 on the Trojans with 10:17 left in the half as Matt Wass scored, assisted by Guerrini. 

The Trojans got their first marker on the scoreboard with 16:06 left in the second half as Ryan Wurzer scored. Shortly thereafter, with 10:53 remaining in regulation time, Derry's Lucas Snyder outraced Bucs' defender Josh Mueller and directed a shot into the twine past a right side diving Burrell keeper Dominic Ferra for the equalizer. The score remained knotted at 2-2 as regulation time expired. 

Neither team scored in the first 10-minute overtime period, and the second overtime looked like the game was headed for a tie outcome before Kariotis was awarded a penalty kick with 3:22 remaining on the clock. As a light rain began to fall, Kariotis popped the game winner into the net to the far right of Derry's diving goalkeeper Boyer, breaking the stalemate with a 3-2 final score.

Burrell improves to 4-5-0 in conference, 4-6-2 overall. They travel to Freeport for a 7 PM start on Tuesday. Derry drops to 1-9-0 in conference, 2-9-0 overall. Next on their schedule is a Tuesday road trip to Hollidaysburg Area
