Brownsville comes from behind to beat Southmoreland 2-1 in WPIAL Class 2A Boys Soccer Section 3 action

The second time was the charm for the Brownville Boys Soccer team as they notched two second half goals against Southmoreland to avenge their 3-2 overtime loss earlier this season to the Scotties. Both teams played excellent defense for the first 21 minutes of the first half of their WPIAL Class 2A Boys Soccer Section 3 conference game at Russ Grimm Stadium in Ruffs Dale on Tuesday, Oct. 09, 2018. The Scotties struck first, however, when senior forward Brett Glowacki scored the only goal of the first half on Brownsville senior goal tender Nate Kovscek at 19:10.  The Scotties lead 1-0 at halftime.  Brownsville sophomore forward Nick Climes got the visiting Falcons on the scoreboard when he scored on Southmoreland sophomore goal tender Matthew Rodriguez with an assist from senior mid fielder Eli Ruffcorn 11 minutes into the second half, tying the game at 1. Both teams traded possession for the next eleven minutes until Climes scored the eventual game-winning goal, again with an assist by Ruffcorn. The Scotties failed to score again even though they kept Brownsville goal tender Nate Kovscek busy with repeated shots on goal in the final minutes of the game. Brownsville held on to secure a 2-1 victory over the Scotties and split the season series.
