Derry Girls Basketball Falls to Serra Catholic 58-36

From the opening tip, Serra Catholic's girls basketball filled the hoop and capitalized on turnovers, as they cruised to a 58-36 non-conference win on the road at Derry Area. The Lady Eagles opened a 17-7 first quarter lead before stretching it to 30-10 at the half. Derry improved in the second half, nearly matching Serra's 28-point output with 26 of their own, but the game was never really in question as the Lady Eagles maintained their first half cushion throughout the remainder of the game.    

Destiny Roberts led all scorers with 17 points in the loss for the Lady Trojans. Nicole Pawloski had 12 points for the Lady Eagles while Gigi Mele-Madigan added 10.  

Serra Catholic raises their overall record to 2-1 with the win. They open their conference schedule on Monday with Brentwood at home. Derry falls to 1-2 overall and will host South Allegheny in a conference game on Monday.
