Baseball - Yough vs Freeport

Freeport baseball starts off strong, coasts to 12-1 win at Yough 

The Freeport Yellow Jackets got off the bus swinging, opening with 4 runs in the first, then coasting to a 12-1 road victory over Yough. Freeport racked up 14 hits on the day, including 3 hit performances by Brodey Cowen and Matt Charlton, with Garret Ben and Gavin Skradski each grabbing a pair of RBIs. Jarrett Heilman pitched 4- 2/3 strong innings for the win with Aiden Skradski holding the Cougars hitless in 2- 1/3 innings of relief. 

Yough spread 7 hits throughout their lineup with Jarett Bach picking up the only RBI. Steve Manon pitched the entire game for Yough except for the final batter in the 7th, as Dom Koch came on in relief to retire Freeport on 4 pitches. 

Gusty winds and bright sunshine made tracking fly balls an adventure for outfielders on both sides. Freeport centerfielder Evan McCrea turned in the defensive play of the game, diving out fully prone to rob Yough's Michael Bell of a hit on a sharp liner to open the bottom of the sixth inning.
