Kiski Area softball rides 4-run fifth inning to 7-3 win over Greensburg Salem

Kiski Area combined a 4-run fifth inning with a 10 strikeout performance by Megan Andree to beat Greensburg Salem 7-3 at home on Tuesday, May 1. The Lady Cavaliers put two runs on the board in the first inning when Erin Weaver singled to left field to score Kelsey Sofaly and Courtney Moyer. They added another in the second when Kelsey Sofaly singled to score Sarah Clever. The Lady Lions got on the board with a pair of runs in the third inning when Tiffany Bruzda's double scored Molly Zack and Kasey Storkel, and they trailed Kiski Area 3-2. The Cavaliers added to their lead in the fifth when Sarah Clever singled to drive in Alexa Nagy, then Alayna Mintz's double drove in Erin Weaver, Kasandras Cessna, and Sarah Clever to make it 7-2. Greensburg Salem added one more in the seventh as Liz O'Neal led off with a double, stole third, and scored on a ground ball in the infield, but pitcher Megan Andree closed out the inning with a groundout to pick up the complete game win. Rena Caruso pitched the complete game for Greensburg Salem. 

Kelsey Sofaly went 3-for-4 while Alayna Mintz had a pair of doubles and 3RBIs for the Lady Cavaliers. Mintz and Sarah Clever went 2-for-3 for Kiski Area. Kasey Storkel and Liz O'Neal had a pair of hits for the Lady Lions, while O'Neal and Tiffany Bruzda each had a double. Bruzda had 2 RBIs for Greensburg Salem.
