It's Deja Vu All Over Again - Penn-Trafford and Norwin Tie in Boys Soccer

When it comes to games between the Penn-Trafford and Norwin soccer teams, you might be reminded of Yogi Berra's famous quote, "It's deja vu all over again." Both the boys and girls teams have played their share of tie games in recent years. It's a reminder of how competitive the battles between the two neighboring schools have been. Tonight it was the boys who gathered for their first head-to-head matchup of the season at Warrior Stadium and battled 100 minutes to a 1-1 tie. The outcome was reminiscent of exactly 364 days ago when they met on the same field and played to a 3-3 draw. And just as it was last year, they'll soon have another opportunity to settle the score when they meet October 11 on Norwin's turf.

All the scoring took place in the first half. Norwin had a great chance to open the scoring midway through the first half when Carter Breen took a shot right in front of the net, but Warriors keeper Logan Kreutzberger blocked the shot from point blank range. The Warriors got on the board when junior Reno Kearns scored past Norwin keeper Kyle Krotec in the 29th minute. Norwin got it back to even only 3 minutes later when Carter Breen was upended, then scored on a penalty kick to the left of a diving Kreutzberger. It was the last time either team would find the net on the night, as the remaining 48:45 of regulation time, and 20 minutes of overtime play, were scoreless. For the record, Norwin won last year's rematch game 2-1.  

Penn-Trafford is 4-2-1 in conference play, 4-3-1 overall. Norwin remains unbeaten at 5-0-1 in conference play, with a 7-1-1 overall record.
