Jeannette beats Imani Christian 28-12 in WPIAL Class A Showdown at Mckee Stadium 

Jeannette defeated Imani Christian 28-12 during their WPIAL Class A contest at McKee Stadium. Jeannette’s defense started the scoring when Jackson Pruitt intercepted Imani quarterback Israel Reed and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown on the opening play of the game. The Jayhawks added the extra point and took a 7-0 lead. Jeannette wasted little time before striking again, this time with the offense as Marcus Barnes hauled in a 26-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Seth Howard and the Jayhawks took a 14-0 lead. Imani returner Tevaughn Alston returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards to put the Saints on the scoreboard for the first time, and the score was 14-6 in the first quarter. Jeannette quarterback Seth Howard then found Barnes in the end zone on a 3-yard touchdown pass, and the Jayhawks extended their lead to 21-6 over the visiting Saints. Imani defensive back Rahmon Hart Jr. did intercept a pair of Seth Howard passes in the end zone during the second quarter keeping the Jayhawks’ lead from getting out of control. The Jayhawks took a 21-6 lead into halftime. Imani running back Juaron Thompson plowed his way into the end zone in the third quarter to score on a 1-yard touchdown run, and the Saints looked like they were closing the gap as the score was 21-12. Jeannette’s dynamic duo of Seth Howard and Marcus Barnes however connected for the third time of the night on a 10-yard touchdown pass, and the reigning Class A State Champions distanced themselves from their rivals. Howard eclipsed 100 yards on the ground and in the air, and Barnes hauled in eight passes for three scores.
