Beth Center Beats Southmoreland 52-26 in WPIAL Class 2A Action.

Beth Center remains undefeated by beating Southmoreland 52-26 in their WPIAL Class 2A Interstate conference game at Russ Grimm Stadium in Ruffsdale on Friday evening Sept. 14, 2018. Southmorleand opened the scoring on the night when wide receiver Chad Miller caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Carnuto at 7:24 in the first quarter and the Scotties took a 7-0 lead over the visiting Bulldogs. After a slow start Beth Center finally got on the scoreboard  in the second quarter when quarterback Bailey Lincoski crossed the goal line on a keeper at 7:16  in the second quarter. Lincoski then converted a two-point conversion and the Bulldogs took an 8-7 lead over the home team. Little more than a minute later Beth Center’s Dominic Fundy intercepted a Zach Carnuto pass and returned it for a touchdown increasing the Bulldogs lead to 16 -7 after they converted their second two-point conversion of the game. Beth Center took a nine point lead into the locker room at halftime. Southmoreland opened the second half scoring whenever Zach Carnuto found wide receiver Riley Comforti in the corner of the end zone on a touchdown pass and the Bulldogs lead narrowed to 16-14 following the successful extra point kick. Beth Center running back Dominic Fundy found the end zone on a long run and the Bulldogs surged ahead 24-14 after Lincoski added another two-point conversion. Fellow running back Dylan Dingle scored again on the Southmoreland defense and the score following another two-point conversion was 32-14. Beth Center’s Lincoski added another touchdown on the ground and the Bulldogs pulled away from the Scotties 38-14 as the third quarter ended. Southmoreland scored first in the fourth quarter when Carnuto plunged into the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run making the score 38-20. Beth Center answered that score with a touchdown pass between back-up quarterback Colby Kuhns and wide receiver J.J. Green. Beth Center’s lead built to 46-20. Southmoreland kick returner Ronnie Robinson returned the ensuing kick-off for a touchdown to close out the scoring for the Scotties. Wide receiver Devin Dingle caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Bailey Lincoski to finish the scoring on the night for the Bulldogs making the final score 52-26. Beth Center improved their record to 4-0 and Southmoreland fell to 2-2 on the season.
