Penn Trafford shuts out Allderdice 9-0 in WPIAL Field Hockey Action

Penn Trafford Junior Allyson Doran registered a hat trick as she led the Warriors past Allderdice in a 9-0 shutout victory at Warrior Stadium on Tuesday night October 01, 2019 in Harrison City.

Doran scored the first of her two opening-half goals as she found the net at the 24-minute mark and the Warriors took a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Doran scored again on Allderdice goaltender Andie Hardin after she fielded a pass from fellow junior Julia Moorhead, and the home team took a 2-0 lead.

Moorhead then added a goal herself with just under 13 minutes to go in the first half, giving the Warriors a 3-0 lead.

Senior goaltender Sam Dougherty minded the net and held the visiting Dragons scoreless in the first half.

Sophomore Delaney Shusko then added two goals within a couple of quick minutes, giving the Warriors a comfortable 5-0 lead over the Dragons at halftime.

Both teams headed to the intermission with Penn Trafford up 5-0.

Penn Trafford started sophomore Gwen Hershberger in goal in the second half.

Warrior freshman Maddie Keenan scored the first goal of the second half at the 27-minute mark, giving Penn Trafford a 6-0 lead.

Then Doran scored her third goal of the evening, increasing the score to 7-0 and earning the hat trick.

Penn Trafford added two late goals by junior Paige Goggin and freshman Ella Morocco to defeat Allderdice 9-0.

Penn Trafford goal tenders Dougherty and Hershberger pitched a shut out while mending the net for the Warriors.

The Warriors improved their record to 4-5 and will travel to Hempfield this coming Thursday to take on the Spartans.
