Girls Basketball - Kiski Area vs Franklin Regional

Franklin Regional Girls Roll Kiski Area 60-20

Franklin Regional got everyone but the bus driver into the action Friday night, with all eleven players seeing court time, as the visiting Lady Panthers rolled over Kiski Area 60-20 in a WPIAL Class 5A Section 2 game at Kiski Area High School.

Franklin Regional opened up a 15-4 first quarter lead, holding the Lady Cavaliers off the board until almost the final minute of the quarter. Kiski Area didn't have much more success in the second period, scoring only two points as the Panthers went to the locker room with a 31-6 halftime lead. Franklin Regional head coach Anthony Kobus pulled his starters midway through the third quarter and got considerable minutes of playing time for his bench for the rest of the game. The Panthers took a 48-15 lead into the final quarter as they cruised to a 60-20 victory over the Cavaliers. 

Cali Konek paced the Panthers with 16 points, while Jordan Yaniga added 15. Nine of eleven Franklin Regional players recorded points in the scorebook. For Kiski Area, Dara Zelonka and Dejah Burnett both had 8 points to lead the Cavs. 

Playoff bound Franklin Regional finished section play in second place with a 10-2 record, 16-5 overall. Kiski Area finished with a 0-12 section record, 4-16 overall. The Panthers travel to Trinity on Monday for a non-conference game. Kiski Area concludes their season on Monday as they host Valley in non-conference game.
