Latrobe Girls Fall to Hempfield 77-60 on Senior Night 

While the weather outside turned cold, the scoring inside Greater Latrobe's gym remained hot as the Lady Wildcats hosted Hempfield in a Saturday night battle of former conference rivals, where the Spartans prevailed 77-60.

Prior to tipoff, Latrobe recognized their three senior players, Bethany Havrilla, Carly Augustine, and Kayla White in ceremony before an appreciative crowd. Once the game started, Hempfield jumped out to a 23-11 advantage on the strength of five first quarter 3-pointers. The Lady Spartans continued their assault on the Wildcats in the second quarter, putting up 26 points spread among five players, building a 49-22 lead at intermission. Latrobe got their offense on track in the third quarter, with Carly Augustine scoring 12 of the Cats' 23 points as they tightened Hempfields' advantage to 62-45 with one quarter remaining. But it was too little too late as the Spartans held Latrobe at bay in claiming a 77-60 victory over the Cats.

Emma Hoffner led Hempfield with 20 points, with Sarah Liberatore adding 18, Riley Sullebarger 17, and Jessica Persin 11. Carly Augustine led all scorers with 21, and Rachel Ridilla added 11 for the Wildcats. 

Hempfield ends their regular season schedule with a 11-11 record. Latrobe drops to 12-8 on the season and will host Gateway on Monday in a non-conference game.
