Latrobe's Jared Stein Wins 2019 WCCA Boys Golf Championship

A scorecard playoff decided the winner of the 2019 Westmoreland County Coaches Association Boys Golf Championship, as a pair of Greater Latrobe Wildcats tied to lead the field of the annual event held at Latrobe Elks Golf Club on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Latrobe's Jared Stein and Darick Hrytanski both shot 75, with Stein winning the championship in the scorecard playoff tiebreaker as his par beat Hrytanski's bogey on the 6th hole. It marks the third consecutive WCCA individual championship for a Wildcat golfer. Latrobe grad Brady Pevarnik claimed top honors in 2017 and 2018.

Three golfers finished one back at 76, with all ties for medals decided using the scorecard tiebreaker format. Franklin Regional's Michael Wareham was 3rd, Greensburg Salem's Jeff Mankins 4th, and Penn-Trafford's Alex Turowski placed 5th. Franklin Regional's Chuck Traggesser claimed 6th and Norwin's Trent Kablach 7th with matching scores of 77. Four were tied at 78 including a pair of Kiski School golfers, Patrick Jacob (8th) and Ian Russ (9th), with Hempfield's Alex Podlucky in 10th and Norwin's Logan Divald in 11th place.

In the AAA team championship, Franklin Regional beat Latrobe 394-398, with Hempfield close behind at 400. Kiski School finished 4th overall and defended their 2018 AA team title with 402, outpacing AA schools Ligonier Valley at 430 and Mount Pleasant at 446.
