Latrobe Field Hockey Falls to Aquinas 2-1 

A lone Aquinas Academy second-half goal was the deciding point as the Crusaders broke a 1-1 deadlock to defeat Latrobe in a field hockey game on Wednesday, September 18, at Rossi Field at Greater Latrobe High School.

The visiting Crusaders got on the scoreboard first on Maria Figucia's goal with 9:12 left in the first half. The Lady Wildcats got the equalizer goal at 4:42 remaining in the half off the stick of Sophia Stynchula. Neither team scored again before the half ended with the score 1-1. 

Good defense kept both teams at bay for much of the second half until Elizabeth Hardy scored the eventual game winner for Aquinas with 10:06 to play in the game. Latrobe mounted several offensive charges on the Crusaders in the final minutes of the game, but Aquinas held strong to get the 2-1 victory on Latrobe's turf.

Regina Liguori was the winning goal keeper for Aquinas Aademy. Marissa Novak minded the net all night for Latrobe.
