Franklin Regional Girls Win 1-0 Defensive Battle with Indiana 

Franklin Regional avenged an early season 3-2 loss at Indiana with a 1-0 victory over the Indians on Wednesday, September 25, at Panther Stadium in Murrysville.

In an evenly matched defensive game, with stellar play by both goalkeepers, neither team found the net in the opening 40 minutes. 

Franklin Regional finally broke the stalemate with 34:30 to play in the second half when freshman Mauriana Dorsch scored to give the Panthers the only goal they would need for the victory. 

Junior goalkeeper Sydney Caldwell stopped everything that came her way and recorded the clean sheet in net for the Lady Panthers. Emily Sherf played a great game in goal for Indiana, with several important saves to keep the Indians in the game until the final buzzer.  

Franklin Regional improves to 5-4-0 overall, 5-3-0 in Class 3A Section 1 play, holding down sole possession of fourth place and only one game out of second place. Indiana is 5-5-0 overall, with their section record of 3-4-0 putting them in fifth place in the standings.
