Indiana Clobbers Greensburg Salem Girls 56-17

It was a rough outing for the Greensburg Salem girls basketball squad, as the visiting indiana Indians rolled over the Lady Lions 56-17 on Thursday, January 9, at Greensburg Salem High School.

Greensburg Salem kept the game within reach in the first quarter,trailing only 14-6 going into the second. While the Lions defense held the Indians to only 9 points in the second, the Indians kept the Lions off the board entirely, and Indiana took a 23-6 lead into halftime.

The second half didn't improve matters for Greensburg Salem. Indiana put up 21 points in the third and added 12 more in the fourth, while the Lions only managed 9 and 2 points in their final two frames, and Greensburg Salem dropped the first of two scheduled section matchups of the season between the two schools. They'll meet again at Indiana on February 3. 

Indiana's Hope Cook led all scorers with 22, including four 3-pointers, and teammate Kathryn Kovalchick added 10. Abby Mankins led the Lions with 13. 

Greensburg Salem drops to 2-4 in Class 4A Section 1 play, and 4-8 overall. Indiana moves to 4-2 in section play, 9-4 overall. Next up are conference games for both teams on Monday January 13. Greensburg Salem will travel to Apollo-Ridge and Indiana will host Freeport.
