Boys Golf - WPIAL AAA Section 4 Qualifier
Franklin Regional and Central Catholic Golfers Advance in Boys AAA Section 4 Qualifier
Seven golfers, four from Franklin Regional and three from Pittsburgh Central Catholic, advanced to the semifinal round of the WPIAL Boys Golf Championship after competing in the Section 4 qualifier on Monday, September 21, at Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.
A field of 24 golfers representing 6 schools competed in the 18-hole event held on the par 72 course. A score of 78 or better was the standard to meet to move on to the semifinals. Schools participating were Central Catholic, Franklin Regional, Gateway, Penn Hills, Plum, and Woodland Hills.
Among the seven qualifiers, Franklin Regional's Michael Wareham led the field with a 73. Central Catholic's Rocco Salvitti and Franklin Regional's Chuck Tragesser finished one stroke behind at 74. A trio of golfers finished with 77 included Carter Pitcairn and Connor Walker from Central Catholic and Franklin Regional's Zach Abdallah. Jeff Anderchak of Franklin Regional rounded out the qualifiers with his round of 78.
The semifinal round is scheduled for next week at a location to be announced.
