Franklin Regional Drops Non-Conference Season Finale 7-1 to Seneca Valley

It was a matchup of two of the top boys soccer teams in their classifications as Franklin Regional hosted Seneca Valley in a non-conference playoff tune-up on Tuesday, October 19, at Franklin Regional's Panther Stadium. And although the game meant nothing in the playoffs picture, the two teams battled hard, with the visiting Class 4A Raiders ultimately besting the Class 3A Panthers 7-1.

Jeremiah Laslavic got the Raiders on the board first just inside the opening 5 minutes of the game when his header out of a crowd in front of the Panthers goal found the net.

Senior Nathan Prex doubled the advantage for Seneca Valley when he scored past Panthers goalkeeper Aryan Selokar in the 23rd minute.

Franklin Regional senior Anthony DiFalco ended the shutout when his free kick got past Raiders keeper Ben Goldman with just under 12 minutes remaining in the opening half.

A Beaux Lizewski goal with only 73 seconds remaining in the half gave the Raiders a 3-1 lead at halftime.

The second half was all Seneca Valley, starting with Nathan Prex's second of the game on a penalty kick in the 51st minute. That was followed by a pair of quick goals in the 71st minute, first by Joey Coon, then the hat-trick goal by Nathan Prex.

Beaux Lizewski closed out the scoring with his brace goal off a corner kick in the 76th minute to give Seneca Valley the 7-1 victory.

Both teams now await the Wednesday afternoon release of playoff brackets and seeding to find out their path to the WPIAL championship. Franklin Regional closes the regular season at 13-3-0 overall, 13-1-0 in conference play. Seneca Valley's final regular season record is 15-0-1 overall, 11-0-1 in conference.
