Franklin Regional Boys LAX tops North Hills 8-7 in OT

A slow start, a six-goal second quarter, a late game collapse, and a golden goal in overtime were all in the mix for Franklin Regional as they scored a hard fought 8-7 victory over North Hills on Thursday, May 6, at Panther Stadium in Murrysville. 

North Hills owned the opening quarter as they put two goals on the scoreboard while holding the home team Panthers to zero. 

But the Panthers roared in the second, scoring six goals to two for North Hills, and Franklin Regional held a 6-4 lead at the half.

After neither team found the net in the third quarter, the Panthers widened their lead to 7-4 with a goal just over a minute into the four quarter. But North Hills wasn't done yet, as they chipped away at the deficit with 3 unanswered goals in the final 7 minutes, sending the game into overtime tied at 7 apiece.

Franklin Regional scored the game winner 2- 1/2 minutes into the overtime period as Tyler Reich fired a shot past North Hills goalie Conner Radecki to give the Panthers the 8-7 win. 

Kyle Albright racked up the win guarding the net for Franklin Regional. Goal scorers for the Panthers were Joey Rivardo (2), Tyler Reich (2), and Ethan Baer, Sam Scherpereel, Cole Vollero, and Billy Parsonage with one each.
