2020 WCCA Swim Team Champions
Mount Pleasant, Franklin Regional, and Hempfield Win Team Titles at 2022 WCCA Swimming Championships
Meet records were falling as fast as the temperature outside during the Westmoreland County Coaches Association's 2022 Swimming Championships on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Derry Area High School.
Teams from Belle Vernon, Burrell, Derry Area, Franklin Regional, Greater Latrobe, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield Area, Kiski Area, Kiski School, Ligonier Valley, Mt. Pleasant, Norwin, Penn-Trafford, and Southmoreland participated in the annual meet, which was not held in 2021 due to the pandemic. The 2022 Diving Championships were held Friday evening.
Mt. Pleasant swimmers claimed 5 of the 10 new meet records that were set. Hempfield Area set two new records with Franklin Regional, Kiski Area and Penn-Trafford setting one new mark each.
New meet records set were:
- Girls 200 Medley Relay 1:48.56 - Mt. Pleasant - Regan Brown, SaraJo Gardner, McKenna Mizikar, Lily King
- Boys 200 Medley Relay 1:36.76 - Hempfield Area - Jacob Dzurica, Liam Randolph, Hunter Cooper, Dominic Falcon
- Girls 50 Free 23.17 - Mt. Pleasant - Lily King
- Girls 100 Free 50.78 - Mt. Pleasant - Lily King
- Boys 500 Free 4:44.26 - Kiski Area - Sterlitz Parker
- Boys 200 Free Relay 1:27.33 - Hempfield Area - Liam Randolph, Ryan Murtha, Hunter Cooper, Dominic Falcon
- Boys 100 Back 51.49 - Penn Trafford - Patton Graziano
- Boys 100 Breast 57.84 - Mt. Pleasant - Joseph Gardner
- Girls 400 Free Relay 3:34.69 - Mt. Pleasant - Reegan Brown, Trinity Graft, SaraJo Gardner, Lily King
- Boys 400 Free Relay 3:13.72 - Franklin Regional - Owen Holm, Benjamin Holm, Holden Thomas, Aiden Bunker
Team championship trophies for Class AA schools were awarded to Mt Pleasant in both girls and boys events. In Class AAA, the Franklin Regional girls won the team title while Franklin Regional's boys and Hempfield Area's boys were crowned co-champions after finishing in a tie for first place.
