Izabela Aigner of GCC Wins 2022 WCCA Girls Golf Championship, Franklin Regional Repeats as Team Champions
Greensburg Central Catholic junior Izabela Aigner carded a 1-under-par 36 to finish six shots clear of the field and win the 2022 Westmoreland County Coaches Association Girls Golf Championship on Friday, September 9, at Champion Lakes Golf Club in Bolivar. Aigner, who finished fourth in the event last year, scored an eagle 3 on the par five 15th hole in clinching the gold medal.
Rounding out the top five finishers were Milana Yannascoli of Hempfield with 42, Gianna Johnson of Franklin Regional with 43, Allison Tepper of Mt. Pleasant with 44, and Mayah Iezzi of Hempfield with 45.
The remaining five medalists were all determined by tie breakers in scorecard playoff. Sixth place was Saylor Kaminski of Penn Trafford (46), 7th was Amanda Woods of Ligonier Valley (46), 8th was Cam Alexander of Franklin Regional (46), 9th was Ali Boyle of Franklin Regional (46) and 10th was Mia Snyder of Franklin Regional (47).
Franklin Regional defended their 2021 team champion title with a score of 182. Greensburg Central Catholic repeated as team runner-up with 198. Penn-Trafford and Mount Pleasant tied for third with 202, and Hempfield was fifth at 210.
Golfers from Franklin Regional, Greensburg Central Catholic, Mt. Pleasant, Penn-Trafford, Hempfield Area, Belle Vernon, Ligonier Valley, Norwin, Southmoreland, Derry Area, and Kiski Area participated in the tournament.
