Greater Latrobe Tops Plum 32-18 in Home Opener, Moves to 2-0.

Greater Latrobe spread the scoring out over four quarters, with touchdowns by four different players, as they beat the visiting Plum Mustangs 32-18 in their non-conference home opener on Friday, August 30, at Memorial Stadium in Latrobe. 

With Steelers mascot Steely McBeam on hand to cheer both teams on, Latrobe jumped out to a 13-0 first quarter lead on a John Wetzel to Andy Tatsch touchdown pass, followed by a Brady Prohovic 5-yard touchdown run. Plum closed the gap to 13-7 in the second quarter on a T.J Futules touchdown run, but the Wildcats answered when John Wetzel called his own number for a Latrobe touchdown. Plum added a 31-yard Olivia Bigger field goal to close out the first half scoring with Latrobe on top 20-10.

Latrobe pulled away in the second half as Alex Tatsch ran for a touchdown in each of the final two quarters. Plum added a late touchdown on an 80-yard pass from Futules to Darian Nelson, then completed the 2-point conversion, to make the final score 32-18. 

Alex Tatsch finished with 158 rushing yards for the Wildcats. TJ Futules threw for 160 yards for the Mustangs, with Darian Nelson making 5 catches for 114 yards.

Next up for Greater Latrobe (2-0) is a non-conference road trip to Norwin, while Plum (0-2) will host Gateway in a non-conference matchup next Friday.
