PIAA Girls Soccer Playoff - GCC vs Brockway

GCC Girls Soccer Opens PIAA Playoffs With 3-2 Win Over Brockway 

Moon Township, Pa. - Greensburg Central Catholic's girls took a 1-0 lead into halftime, then matched pairs of second half goals with Brockway, to win their opening round PIAA Class A soccer playoff game at Moon Area High School. Sydney Ward opened the scoring 1:30 into the game with a shot past Brockway keeper MacKenzie Overbeck. GCC's 1-0 lead held until Brockway tied it at 1-1 with only 2:04 gone in the second half. The Lady Centurions responded less than 4 minutes later on a goal by Samantha Felder. Brockway tied the game again at 2-2 with just under 22 minutes remaining, but Sydney Ward put GCC back on top for good with a goal 22 seconds later. Bella Skatell was the winning goalkeeper for the Lady Centurions.

GCC bumps their record to 16-3 and will play Windber in the quarterfinal round on Saturday. District 9 runner-up Brockway finishes their season at 15-3.
