Hempfield Wins 7th Annual WCCA 7-on-7 Football Tournament. 

Hempfield Area defended their 2016 title with a 22-8 win over Norwin in the championship game of the Westmoreland County Coaches Association's annual 7-on-7 football tournament on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Greater Latrobe High School. Teams from Derry, Franklin Regional, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield, Jeannette, Latrobe, Mt. Pleasant, Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Southmoreland, Valley, and Yough played five games in one of two brackets that determined which two teams advanced to the finals. Norwin finished 5-0 to win their bracket while Hempfield advanced on a point differential tie-breaker after finishing 4-1 in their bracket along with Penn-Trafford and Valley.
