Greensburg Central Catholic upends Riverview 12-1 in WPIAL Class 1A Girls Soccer.

The Greensburg Central Catholic Lady Centurions scored nine unanswered goals in the first half against visiting Riverview during their twilight match at Centurion Stadium in Carbon on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. The Centurions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the WPIAL Class 1A Section 1 contest when sophomore forward Samantha Felder slipped the ball past Riverview junior goal tender Alyssa Cappa for the first of her two goals on the night. Then freshman midfielder Tatum Gretz added three consecutive goals to surge the Lady Centurions past the Lady Raiders. Adding a pair of first-half goals was sophomore Jessica Nemeth while Brenna Springer, Bethany Winnor and Hannah Nelson each netted goals for the home team. Greensburg Central Catholic senior goal keeper Bella Skatell held Riverview scoreless for 39 minutes into the game until Riverview junior forward Sydney McDonough finally got the Raiders onto the scoreboard just before halftime. Both teams gathered with their coaches on the sideline at halftime with the Lady Centurions with a 9-1 lead. Greensburg Central Catholic added three more goals in the second half with Samantha Felder, Samantha Nemeth and Krista McWilliams scoring. The game ended with a 12-1 victory for the home team.
