2021 WCCA Boys Golf Championships
Kiski School, Penn-Trafford Claim Team Trophies at WCCA Boys Golf Championships
After a one year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Westmoreland County Coaches Association Boys Golf Championships were back in action on Friday, September 10, at the Latrobe Elks course. After the final putt had dropped into the cup, Kiski School and Penn-Trafford each took home the team trophy in their respective classification.
Kiski School's 389 was the low team score for the tournament and earned them the Class AA team champion's trophy. Derry Area finished as the AA runner-up at 418, with Greensburg Central Catholic third at 423.
Penn-Trafford's 406 earned them the Class AAA trophy, with defending champion Franklin Regional second at 412 and Norwin third at 418.
Penn-Trafford also claimed the individual gold medal when sophomore Nick Turowski birdied the final two holes to finish at 1-under-par 71. Kiski School's Alberto Calafat finished second at even par while Southmoreland’s Austin Goehring was third at 1-over 73. Kiski School’s Bob Burr and Ruben Gamez both carded 74s, with Burr earning fourth place via a scorecard tie-breaker rule. The remainder of the top ten were Norwin's Alex Graham (6th) and Franklin Regional’s Zach Abdallah (7th) with 75, and Derry Area’s Antonio Hauser (8th), Franklin Regional’s Nolan Shilling (9th) and Derry Area’s Hunter Jurica (10th) with scores of 77.
